Wellington - The
New Zealand Treasury's colourful staff count a nudist and a burlesque dance teacher among its numbers, department boss John Whitehead said Friday. In a "We are Human Too" speech to Rotary Club members in North Wellington, Whitehead explained that the government's principal
financial advisers are not all egghead number crunchers, the New Zealand Press Association reported.
He was seeking to dispel myths that the Treasury was stacked with dull, grey men and fresh-faced
university graduates who had no experience in the real world.
Treasury staff included someone who had gone on
television to talk about establishing a nudist camp, professionally trained opera singers, actors and a vintage burlesque dance teacher, Whitehead said.
